Rock cycles

Rocks, they seam basic, lifeless and cold. The reality is rather different though, they are born in fire, live for millions of years, change shape and form, all to eventually be swallowed by fire on the other side of the planet 100’s of millions of years later.

There are 3 types of rock that can exist:

  • Igneous – formed by magma and the first stage or “birth” of rocks
  • Sedimentary – made from eroded or weathered igneous or metamorphic rocks.
  • Metamorphic – buried and compressed igneous or sedimentary rocks
